What's In Your Heart?
Program Description: Students will learn how artists use symbolism in their artwork.  After looking at the work of artist Jim Dine students will create their own heart and fill it with colors that represent what is in our heart. Ages 5+

Identity Portraits
Program Description: Who am I? In this 90-minute workshop students will redefine what a self-portrait is. Students will look at artists who express who they are, what they value, and how they see the world through their art. They will then create a non-traditional portrait that expresses who they are and what they want others to see in them.  Ages 5+

Social Emotional Printmaking Workshop
Program Description: The Social Emotional Program allows students to isolate and interpret the cues our faces give to demonstrate how we are feeling. After observing and analyzing pictures of the Haidia Totem Poles at Penn Museum students learn printmaking techniques and create prints in the style of traditional totem poles. Each participant will create two prints that depict an animal showing an emotion. One of each participant’s prints will be added to a collaborative totem pole and the other will be taken home. In order to meet the needs of all student’s Portside will provide weighted pencils, interactive tools, and helpful visuals.

3D Paper Art
Program Description: In this 90-minute workshop participants will explore how a 2D sheet of paper can be transformed into a 3D work of art. An example workshop would be looking at the rolled paper art of Yulia Brodskaya and creating their own rolled paper sculpture. The teacher will coordinate with the venue to choose an artist and project that will be suited for the population being served.

Girl Power
Program Description: This 90-minute workshop aims to empower female artists of all ages. Participants will learn about a female artist and create an art project inspired by that artist. The teacher will coordinate with the venue to choose an artist and project that will be suited for the population being served.

Fiber Wall-Hanging Workshop
Program Description: In this 90-minute workshop participants will look at contemporary fiber artists and create their own unique fiber wall hanging with natural materials.

Venue Requirements: Access to a sink for washing up
Cost: $225
Record Spin Art
Program Description: In the 90-minute workshop participants will use Portside’s Famous re-purposed Spin Art Machine to create a unique spin art painting on an old record.
Length of Program: 90 minutes

Venue Requirements: An outlet is needed to plug in the spin art machine. An area to dry the finished projects.
