The Physick House, built in 1786, is the former home of Dr. Philip Syng Physick, the “Father of American Surgery” who cared for notable figures such as Dolly Madison and Andrew Jackson. The house is the only freestanding Federal townhouse remaining in Society Hill. It features a large garden and a medical museum on the second floor, along with beautifully decorated and furnished period rooms.
