Promo Photo for American Helicopter Museum

American Helicopter Museum

The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center is the nation's premier aviation museum devoted exclusively to helicopters. We collect, restore and display historic aircraft and chronicle the origin and development of rotary wing aircraft.

Each year the Museum hosts thousands of visitors, school groups, families and senior citizens. Tourists of all ages from the U.S and abroad come here to witness the history and the future of the helicopter.

Through our library's continually growing collection of documents, artifacts, films, memoirs and research the Museum serves as an important source of public information about rotary wing aircraft.

Appropriately the Museum is located in suburban Philadelphia where two of today's major helicopter manufacturers have their roots, and where much of the earliest development of helicopters in the U.S took place.

Currently, the Museum displays over 35 civilian and military helicopters, autogiros and convertaplanes. The exhibits span the history of rotary wing aircraft from the earliest helicopters to the latest addition to our nation's defense, the V-22 Osprey.

About the Guided Tours:

The interpretation of the Pearl S. Buck House communicates five core themes as follows:

1) Growing up in China, and returning to China after attending college in the United States, influenced the woman Ms. Buck became. Her experiences in these countries affected her as an author, mother, activist and humanitarian.

2) Ms. Buck had many different roles in life – working mother, wife, sister, daughter and neighbor – in addition to her public life as an author, activist, and humanitarian.

3) Ms. Buck fought to promote tolerance, understanding between people of different races, gender, creeds, physical and mental abilities, and cultures. In particular, she sought to build a bridge of understanding between East and West.

4) Ms. Buck was a successful writer. This brought her literary recognition, associates in areas of interest, and affluence. Because of these successes from her career, she was able to accomplish many things as an activist and humanitarian.

5) The legacy of Ms. Buck lives on today through the continuing work of Pearl S. Buck International (PSBI), which has three distinct functions: the operation of the Ms. Buck House, the Welcome House Adoption Program, and Opportunity House, which helps disadvantaged children and families worldwide. The venue will provide Art-Reach with changing exhibit details as they occur.

Holiday Tours are also included in the home from mid November to the end of December each year. Holiday Tours consist of decorated rooms in the home featuring the work of various community civic groups, businesses, and students.
