Title
Description
THE TRAIL WEST

Based on the diaries of the men and women who crossed the western plains in covered wagons between 1840 and 1870. The play tells the story of Seth and Grace and their two children, overcoming the hazards of the trail as they make their way to their new home in Oregon. It is ultimately a story of hope and triumph – how joy and laughter and an indomitable spirit can solve the problems of everyday life and lead the way to soaring achievements.

THAT FABULOUS FRANKLIN
Takes the audience on a journey through Franklin’s amazing career. The Inventive Ben improves stoves and eyewear. The Scientific Ben explores electricity. The Civic Ben provides his community with a library and fire station. The Commercial Ben runs his own print shop. The Literary Ben publishes Poor Richard’s Almanac and the Pennsylvania Gazette. The Diplomatic Ben helps found our country.... and the list goes on. He’s one person who can truly say “Ben there. Done that!” This fun-filled look at Ben Franklin’s life gives us a lesson for the present and inspiration for the future.

SCIENCE PEOPLE

Is designed to build on natural curiosity and demonstrates how men and women through the ages have used that same curiosity to examine and explain the workings of the universe. This show focuses on the personalities and motivation of the great scientists, as well as their accomplishments. It conveys the wonder and awe of Galileo examining the stars and the planets with his telescope. The audience joins Isaac Newton as he questions why apples fall to the earth. They witness Louis Pasteur using his microscope to find the germs that cause milk to spoil. George Washington Carver uses his knowledge of botany to save southern farms from the boll weevil. The modern world comes into focus with the work of Marie Curie and the development of x-rays. With the typical verve and humor of Duet Productions, this play makes the scientific method come to life.

FINDING KING TUT

In 1922 British archeologist Howard Carter uncovered the tomb of an Egyptian king that had lain hidden for over 3,000 years. Carter was astounded by the magnificent treasures buried along with King Tutankhamen. This delightful play brings the stories of the dedicated archeologist and the youthful king together. Audiences will get a glimpse into the rich cultural history of ancient Egypt, while learning of the skills and persistence of those involved in archeological digs. This historical tale is told with a marvelous sense of mystery and adventure, and, as always, a touch of humor to keep things lively. Two actors play all the characters.

THE MARVELOUS MACHINE

With an emphasis on healthy choices and building self esteem this dynamic production provides an inspirational experience for young audiences. The play opens with the “Dance of the (New) Food Pyramid” and continues with three hilarious and memorable skits that bring the message home.
1) Matilda’s Folly – A young girl who wants to be an architect cares little about nutrition and struggles through the day.
2) Dad’s Discovery – While grocery shopping, a bright child helps her dad (a junk food fanatic) discover the the value of a balanced diet.
3) Ray’s Recovery – A confirmed “couch potato” has an amazing out-of-TV experience and finds fun and fulfillment in games and exercise.
